HELP for Streaming Problems

  1. GET THE LATEST REAL, WINDOWS, or QUICKTIME PLAYER

    Get Real One Get Windows Media Get QuickTime 6

  2. CHECK YOUR CONNECTION SPEED

    1. In REAL Player, open:

      • View
      • Preferences
      • Connection
      • Set the connection to a higher level than what you have,
        particularly when using a DSL line or CABLE MODEM.
      • Set to 56k if on a dialup modem


    2. In WINDOWS MEDIA Player, open:

      • Tools
      • Options
      • Performance
      • My Connection speed
      • Set the connection speed higher than what you have.
      • Set to 56k if on a dialup modem


    3. In QUICKTIME Player, open:

      • Edit
      • Preferences
      • Quicktime Preferences
      • My Connection speed
      • Drop down menu, choose Connection Speed
      • Set the connection higher
      • Set to 56k if on a dialup modem


  3. Try the Speed Test Check your download connection speed

  4. Firewall Problem? Can't stream streaming files, RTSP, MMS? Adjust settings for HTTP streaming.

    1. In REAL Player, open:

      • View
      • Transport
      • Use specified transports
      • RTSP Settings
      • Use HTTP only (allows stream as download)


    2. In WINDOWS MEDIA Player, open:

      • Tools
      • Options
      • Network tab
      • uncheck multicast and UDP
      • leave TCP & HTTP checked


    3. In QUICKTIME Player, open:

      • Edit
      • Preferences
      • Quicktime Preferences
      • Drop down menu, choose Streaming Transport
      • Use HTTP


  5. If you are still having trouble watching streaming video behind a firewall, refer your network administrator to the following help pages, to reconfigure the firewall.
